Born in Kansas City, Kansas. and raised in Topeka, Kansas, I have spent the past 30  years in Texas.  I have had a love of all art forms from an early age.  Having studied the techniques of watercolor, oils, acrylics, and printing, as well as collage and weaving, I have settled into my main love of watercolor and acrylics.  I have studied with very talented teachers such as Louise Cadillac, Al Brouilette, Carrie Burns Brown, Catherine Chang Lui, and Alex Powers to name only a few.  Subject matters are varied, but the style is humorous, quirky, extremely bold, with a vivid use of primary colors. The style looks simple but is actually multiple layers of acrylic paint.

I am partial to painting animals, in a unique style, with a personality of their own.  My subjects range from “fur people” that are a large part of most families, to the jungle variety, tropical fish, and birds. Viewers will also notice, in my large portfolio of work, that I paint many architectural landmarks, of a diverse variety, with a particular fondness for unique local areas and national locales. I am currently showing at Artistic Endeavors Gallery in La Villita, located in the heart of downtown San Antonio’s historic art district.  My artwork can also be viewed year round at the Los Patios Gazebo Restaurant and Gallery (permanent home of the San Antonio Watercolor Group). The Art Gallery Rockport, in Rockport, TX., is one of my newest gallery locations. These galleries will have my work available for viewing and purchasing at the following websites. www.sanantoniowatercolorgroup.com    www.artend.com  www.artgalleryrockport.com

I am also involved in many art organizations which keep me busy when not painting.  I am the continuing Treasurer and Membership Chair of the Texas Watercolor Society, President of the San Antonio Watercolor Group, as well as, their Continuous Show Chairman and the Annual Juried Show Chairman.  For the past 6 years I have been the Chairman of San Antonio Watercolor Month, which organizes multiple events in the spring. The City of San Antonio has officially designated March as Watercolor Month.  I give numerous demonstrations in the area and workshops around the country. I travel to multiple art festivals in many states. I, with many of the San Antonio Watercolor Group artists, organize and set up a yearly juried watercolor exhibit for the “SAY SI” middle & high school students, which is a non-profit after school program for inner city children.  They, in turn, have an annual watercolor exhibit, in May, in the historic arts district, La Villita. An annual artist festival, in it’s 10th year, also takes place at this time to benefit the sale of the students art, and create a venue other artists to sell their work in an art fair atmosphere.  This event is co-sponsored by the La Villita Tenants Association and the San Antonio Watercolor Group. My work is in permanent collections in major medical centers, personal residences, major veterinary clinics and offices.  My eclectic paintings are also no strangers to international residences and businesses from London to Bombay. I am a proud Signature Member of the Texas Watercolor Society and a Silver Medallist with San Antonio Watercolor Group.
